Zhang Huan: Hero No. 1 — An Exhibition by The Pace Gallery

Description:

This app presents a virtual tour of Hero No. 1, a sculpture in cowskin, steel, wood, and polystyrene foam by the Chinese artist Zhang Huan. The artwork, which measures a staggering 17 x 32 x 21 feet and weighs 4 tons, is a highlight of the 2010 Art Basel art fair in Basel, Switzerland.

The app also serves as an introduction to Zhang Huan's work. It includes portraits and a bio of the artist, as well as information about several other recent Zhang Huan exhibitions. Highlights include images of Three Heads Six Arms, a monumental public sculpture installed across the street from San Francisco's city hall; and a video of Blessings, Zhang Huan's two-venue New York exhibition at The Pace Gallery in spring 2009.
